Romanian mobile game with evil monsters reaches one million downloads

Tap Busters, the first game of Bucharest-based Metagame Studio, has reached its first major milestone, surpassing one million downloads on iOS and Android devices, following the title’s official launch in November 2017. The game currently has an average rating of 4.7/5 on Android and 4.8/5 on iOS. An estimated 30% of Tap Busters players come from the United States, while Romania is among the top 15 countries in terms of downloads. The game is the result of the studio’s collaboration with Romanian games incubator/accelerator Carbon, which supports independent game developers in the region. It was published globally by Tilting Point, a US-based mobile games publisher. “We’re very glad to have reached this significant milestone, which shows that we created a game that stands out from the crowd, but our work doesn’t stop here. Tap Busters is a captivating game, loved by many players around the world and we’re fully committed to continue delighting them. We are continuously working on introducing new features and fresh content to keep our players engaged more than ever,” said Daniel Nay, co-founder and CEO of Metagame. Tap Busters is a free-to-play tapper game that incorporates action RPG (Role Playing Game) elements with unique artwork, which was created by internationally acclaimed artist Noper. The player’s mission is to become a bounty hunter and tap the screen to destroy evil monsters. Throughout the game the players have at their disposal a wide array of equipment and minions to help them in their missions. Metagame Studio was founded by a group of gaming industry veterans from Bucharest and acclaimed artist Noper (real name Radu Pop), named one of the top 200 illustrators worldwide by Lurzer’s Archive magazine. Launched in 2016, Carbon is a Romanian games incubator, dev partner and micro-publisher for independent game studios in emerging markets. The company has just recently signed its sixth title, "Fort Triumph”, a turn-based strategy game for PC, to be released in the second quarter of 2018.
