The Ministry of Energy has proposed three areas in Romania's Black Sea sector for potential concessions to develop offshore wind farms, with a combined planned capacity of 3.1 GW, according to Mediafax.
The proposed areas comprise one perimeter with a capacity of 1,900 MW and two with 600 MW each. The ministry said the areas identified under the Romanian Energy Strategy 2025-2035 are suitable for offshore wind projects using fixed foundations, compatible with currently available technology and located outside areas considered highly sensitive.
