Bucharest mall opens first Empty Shop in Romania

The Promenada shopping mall in Bucharest has opened the first Empty Shop in Romania, a different concept store where customers and mall visitors are invited not to empty the shelves, but to fill them with clothes they no longer wear. The clothes will then be donated to families with low incomes. The project is carried out in partnership with Let’s Do It, Romania! organization. “By opening The Empty Shop and the other 12 collection points in our malls in the country, we aim to conduct the biggest clothing collection campaign: 20 tons in two weeks. Every day, hundreds of thousands of people visit our shopping centers across the country for shopping, on their way to work, to eat or to relax. Now we also have a challenge for them: to donate to the benefit of people with limited material possibilities,” said Corina Olteanu, group PR manager NEPI Rockcastle, the developer that has Promenada in its portfolio. The collected clothes will be sorted out with the help of 50 volunteers, and then cleaned and delivered to 1,000 families in Maramures, Neamt, Iasi, Constanta, Targu Jiu, Calarasi, and Ialomita counties, according to Let’s Do It, Romania!. The Empty Shop is located at level 1 of the Promenada mall, and will stay open until April 18 between 10:00 and 22:00. The other collection points will be organized in the shopping malls City Park Constanta, Shopping City Timisoara, Shopping City Galati, Braila Mall, Shopping City Piatra Neamt, Ploiesti Shopping City, Shopping City Deva, Aurora Shopping Mall (Buzau), Shopping City Targu Jiu, Severin Shopping Center, Shopping City Ramnicu Valcea, and Shopping City Sibiu.
