OMV Petrom and Renovatio launch three solar parks with 130 MW capacity in Romania

The projects are located in Țăndărei, Bucovăț and Căzănești and were developed through a 50:50 partnership between the two companies. OMV Petrom’s share of the installed capacity amounts to approximately 65 MW, bringing its operational renewable energy capacity, including assets held through partnerships, to around 200 MW.
The three parks are expected to generate a combined 0.2 TWh of electricity annually, equivalent to the yearly consumption of more than 110,000 Romanian households, according to the company.
“The commissioning of these solar parks is another step in advancing our renewable power portfolio,” said Franck Neel, member of OMV Petrom’s Executive Board responsible for Gas & Power.
A further 1,200 MW of renewable capacity is under construction, while the company is targeting more than 2,500 MW of operational capacity by 2030, Neel said.
The total investment in the three solar parks amounts to approximately EUR 78 million, of which EUR 26 million was provided through grants under Romania’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).
OMV Petrom is expanding its presence in Romania’s electricity market through a portfolio that includes the 860 MW Brazi power plant, renewable energy projects with a combined capacity of more than 2,500 MW at various stages of development, including partnerships, and electricity storage projects in Romania and Bulgaria.
The newly commissioned parks add to the company’s operational renewable generation assets as it continues to develop projects aimed at increasing its electricity production from renewable sources.
