The Romanian Government on May 23 approved a draft decision on the reorganization of the Ministry of European Investments and Projects. The document provides for the increase of the overall staff and the management positions by over one third.
A special general direction for the implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) will be established, minister Marcel Boloş announced.
Thus, the number of positions in the ministry will increase by 30%, up to 1,943 people, to manage EUR 96 bln of European funds, the minister said.
Boloş's predecessor, reformist (USR) MP Cristian Ghinea, warned that Romania risks not reaching the milestones necessary to collect the first payment under the PNRR while minister Boloş is busy creating hundreds of new positions in the ministry he leads to satisfy the political clientele. Boloş's plan is just an "incredible waste of resources," former minister Ghinea pointed out, News.ro reported.
