E.ON builds EUR 1.9 mln PV roof for major Romanian construction materials factory

The electricity and natural gas supplier E.ON Energie Romania, a member of the German group E.ON, completed the construction of a photovoltaic power plant within the industrial park operated by the construction materials manufacturer TeraPlast Bistrita, following an investment estimated at EUR 1.9 mln.

The project includes over 7,000 photovoltaic modules installed on the roofs of production halls and buildings and will generate 11% energy independence for TeraPlast. It will also reduce long-term CO2 emissions by up to 660 tonnes per year.

"We reduce the carbon footprint of used raw materials by 16,000 tons/year due to the investment in TeraPlast Recycling. With the help of the photovoltaic plant, we are developing this direction, and we will reduce CO2 emissions by another 660 tons/year. We would like to see more such projects implemented in Romania. If at least 30% of the companies that own industrial halls adopted this model, our country would become a net exporter of electricity," says Alexandru Stânean, CEO of TeraPlast.
