Deutsche Telekom still seeking buyer for its Romanian mobile telecom operations

Hellenic Telecommunications Organization (OTE, Greece) and its main shareholder Deutsche Telekom (Germany) resumed operations to identify a buyer for their mobile business in Romania. The dedicated mergers and acquisitions team submitted presentation documents addressing potential buyers in January.

"OTE has resumed addressing potential buyers, and the documents started being sent to them during the first week of this year. The main targets are the investment funds and the regional players in the telecommunications industry," according to sources quoted by Ziarul Financiar daily.

Deutsche Telekom has already sold its fixed-line operations in Romania to Orange.

OTE announced that the sale of its 54% stake in Telekom Romania Communications, the incumbent fixed-line operator formerly known as Romtelecom, to Orange Romania was successfully completed on September 30, 2021. The final equity consideration reached EUR 295.6 mln.
