Romania’s roads company wants to redo the feasibility study for Ploiesti-Brasov highway

CNAIR, the state company that manages road infrastructure projects in Romania, plans to launch a new tender for reviewing the feasibility study and technical project for the Ploiesti-Brasov highway project.

The duration of this contract is 35 months and its value is RON 57.5 million (EUR 12 mln), 85% of which will come from the European Union, Economica.net reported.

This will further delay the start of this project, which should help ease traffic in one of Romania’s busiest tourist region – the Prahova Valley.

Romania has been struggling to build a highway to cross the Southern Carpathians and create a fast link between the capital Bucharest (in the south) and the country’s western border with Hungary. Both the Pitesti – Sibiu highway and the Ploiesti-Brasov highway have been on the list of promises of each Government in the last 20 years, but little progress has been made on each of these two projects.
