Romania’s railway company to repair Bucharest-Craiova route under EUR 55 mln contract

CFR Infrastructura, the company that handles Romania’s railway network, launched a tender for works to eliminate speed restrictions and restore the technical parameters of the 209-km route between Bucharest and Craiova.
The estimated value of the works is RON 278 mln (some EUR 55 mln), not including the VAT, according to Economica.net. The deadline for submission of bids is June 7.
But the procedure is carried out under a suspensive clause, related to securing the source of financing.
The works would be carried out along about 160 kilometres of railway between Olteni and Pielești. CFR Infrastructure has already signed two contracts for the elaboration of the feasibility study and the technical project to modernize the Bucharest - Roșiori and Roșiori - Craiova sections of the Bucharest-Craiova route.
The modernization of the Bucharest - Craiova railway line ranks first on the list of 20 railway projects prioritized by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.
