London robotics startup founded by Romanians raises USD 6 mln funding

20 July 2020

BotsAndUs, a London-based robotics and A.I. startup founded by Romanians, has raised USD 6 million in funding from Kindred Capital and Capnamic Ventures, with angel investors in the U.K. and the U.S. participating, Tech.eu and News.crunchbase.com reported.

BotsAndUS was established by Romanians Andrei Dănescu (CEO), Adrian Negoiță (CTO) and Oana Jinga (marketing and sales) in 2015, in London.

It develops robots that work alongside people in venues such as supermarkets, commercial centers, airports, or office buildings. It also focuses on automation, data collection and analysis. The data collected by the robots and the tasks they automate allow clients to reduce their costs.

Among the startup’s customers are MediaMarktSaturn, Heathrow Airport, British Airways, and Dnata, Economica.net reported.

The startup plans to use the funding to expand its team, further robot deployments, and explore new products and services to respond to a significant increase in demand for automation.

It plans to develop automation solutions for indoor venues, “unstructured environments where people traffic and excessive noise normally create challenges for autonomous robots,” Tech.eu reported.

BotsAndUS previously received financing from the E.U.’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program and from Innovate U.K.
