Furniture producer Aramis Invest was the largest Romanian exporter owned by local investors in 2018, Ziarul Financiar daily reported based on data supplied by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

INS does not disclose specific export numbers, but ZF daily estimates Aramis exported furniture worth over EUR 220 million in 2018. Its total sales last year were RON 1.07 billion (EUR 230 million), and the company’s CFO Alexandru Griguta estimates the share of exports at some 95%.

One of the company's biggest clients is Swedish retailer IKEA.

Aramis Invest, located in Baia Mare (northwest Romania), a business controlled by local entrepreneurs Vladimir Iacob and Marius Şelescu, ranked in 2018, for the first time, among the 50 largest exporters in Romania (at number 49) and remained the largest exporter with Romanian capital.

The country’s largest exporters are foreign-owned companies mostly in the automotive industry out of which the largest are Dacia, Ford, and Daimler.
