After Top Gear, rival motoring show Fifth Gear to shoot an episode in Romania

05 November 2014

An episode of the upcoming British series Fifth Gear will be shot in Romania, according to Viviane Paxinos, Senior Director with A+E Networks UK, which runs the History TV channel. The channel will run the show in premiere in 2015 in Romania. “We want to give the show a local flavor. Car shows are very much appreciated, and we believe this show is perfect for Romania, we will even shot an episode here to make it even more attractive,” said Paxinos during an event in Bucharest this week.

Shooting for the episode will start in the beginning of next year.  Romania was also chosen for an episode shooting by another popular British car show, rival Top Gear.

Fifth Gear was originally shown on Channel 5 from 2002 to 2011 and Discovery in 2012. The show was then poached by A+E Networks UK’s H2 channel, who will run it in 2015 and 2016. Two of the show’s hosts, Vicki Butler-Henderson and Tiff Needell will continue to front the series when it moves to History in spring 2015.

In Romania, History is available for subscribers of the main cable TV suppliers, RCS & RDS, UPC and Telekom.
