Tarom CEO complains about high Bucharest airport taxes

10 October 2018

Romania’s state airline Tarom pays higher airport taxes than low-cost operators that come to Romania, get subsidies and then leave, the company’s CEO Werner Wolff said in an interview with local DC News.

He added that Tarom pays airport fees that are up to ten times higher than those paid by other operators and that Romania should follow the Polish and German models, which support their national companies, according to local Economica.net.

“I can say that we pay higher rents at the Otopeni airport than elsewhere, even Istanbul or other airports abroad,” Wolff said.
