Selgros Romania CEO leaves to manage the group’s operations in Germany

Alexandru Vlad, the Romanian executive who has been managing the operations of Selgros Cash & Carry in Romania since 2001, when the group entered the local market, will leave the company, according to market sources cited by local Ziarul Financiar. He will take the helm of the group’s operations in Germany, which are double the size of those in Romania, according to the same sources. Last year, Selgros had a turnover of some RON 3.6 billion (EUR 775 million) in Romania, up 10.6% over 2016, according to public data. The network had 22 cash & carry stores on the local market. Unlike retailers such as hypermarket, supermarket and discounter chains, cash & carry stores mainly address resellers - small retailers - and operators in the hospitality industry. Selgros is part of Swiss group TransGourmet. The group also operates in Germany, where it has some 43 stores, Poland and Russia. editor@romania-insider.com
