Romanian entrepreneurs develop fashion-centric social network

25 February 2019

Six Romanian entrepreneurs have developed a social network focused on fashion, a project they currently evaluate at EUR 1.2 million.

The six Romanians - Adrian Mazilu, Cosmin Ionica, Alexandru Emanuel Zainea, Andrei Cosmin Fifiita, Alexandru Farcas, and Laurentiu Murgu - have developed a mobile application, called RedCarpet, that has reached over 10,000 users in a few months, local Ziarul Financiar reported. The app is a social network dedicated to fashion enthusiasts.

"In a few months, the application exceeded 10,000 users, more than 90% being Romanians. We chose to launch a pilot project in Romania, and then expand organically in other countries," said Adrian Mazilu, co-founder and CEO of RCAPPS Limited (Cyprus), the company that runs the RedCarpet application.

"We believe that Romania is excellent in these two chapters: fashion and fun. It is much easier for us to start at home. Users around the age of 25 predominate, the majority of them being women. We are confident that it is only a matter of time until the share of others will begin to grow," he added.

RedCarpet addresses fashion enthusiasts, who, when posting a picture in the application, can label the clothing products they wear, indicating their brand. Thus, other users can click on the tagged brand and be directed to the brand stores to shop online.
