Raytheon, the US giant active in the defense industry, estimates that it will make USD 2 billion from the sale of Patriot missiles to Romania.

The Washington Administration and Romania’s Government will sign by the end of this year the first letter of offer and acceptance for the first installment, worth several hundred million dollars, according to the US group. Raytheon CEO Thomas Kennedy has made these estimates in a teleconference with financial analysts.

“Speaking about Europe, we are making progress on several large-scale Patriot missile sales opportunities, including Poland and Romania,” said Kennedy. The contract with Poland could amount to USD 5 billion, paid in two installments, according to the US group.

"In addition to Poland and Romania, we see other Patriot missile sales opportunities in the region," said Raytheon's CEO.

The Motley Fool publication has recently estimated that Raytheon could make a profit of nearly USD 500 million from the sale of Patriot missiles to the Romanian state.
