EUR 28 mln investments for new passenger terminal at Maramures airport in Romania

Maramures International Airport in the northwest part of Romania will have a new passenger terminal after the County Council submitted an application for funding for this purpose through the EU-funded Large Infrastructure Operational Program (LIOP).

The terminal will have a capacity of 450 passengers per hour and will cost over RON 138 mln (EUR 28 mln), including VAT. The construction works are expected to take two years.

Transport minister Sorin Grindeanu announced on Thursday evening that the application for financing was submitted at the beginning of this month.

Several other facilities will also be built along with the new terminal: a car parking area (450 automobiles); parking for minibuses (10 places); bus parking (8 places); VIP and business parking; taxi parking area; bus station area; cargo area; and a hotel.

The new terminal will have a total area of ​​12,209 square meters.
