Two gold medals for Romania at the 2017 World Rowing Championships

Romanian athletes won two gold medals for their country at the 2017 World Rowing Championships organized in Sarasota-Bradenton, United States.

On Saturday, September 30, the Romanian team made up of Ionela-Livia Lehaci and Gianina-Elena Beleaga got the gold in the Lightweight Women’s Double Sculls (LW2x). They finished the race with a time of 06:55.880, better that that of New Zealand’s team (06:56.090) and the US team (06:56.380).

The next day, Romania also managed to win the gold medal in Women’s Eight race. The Romanian team made up of Ioana Vrinceanu, Viviana-Iuliana Bejinariu, Mihaela Petrila, Iuliana Popa, Madalina Beres, Denisa Tilvescu, Adelina Bogus, and Laura Oprea completed the race with the best time of 06:06.400. Canada took the silver and New Zealand won bronze.

The 2017 edition of the World Rowing Championships ended on Sunday, October 1.
