The general and life insurance market reached EUR 1.82 billion last year, down 0.34% over 2013, whereas compensations dropped by 2.78% to EUR 1.09 billion, according to the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF). The insurance market was about 1.2% of the GDP, down from 1.29% in 2013 and 1.41% in 2012. Some EUR 1.45 billion (79.71%) of the total underwritten premiums represent general insurance income, and EUR 369.7 million represent life insurance income. General insurance premiums, which amounted to about EUR 1.45 billion, went down by 0.55% compared to 2013. Casco car insurance premiums, natural disasters, and mandatory auto insurance premiums (RCA) represent 84.46% of the total general insurance payments. editor@romania-insider.com
