Muntmark's Monsson group to build 1GWp PV park in Romania by end-2024

West Power Investments, a company owned by businessman Emanuel Muntmark through its Monsson group - the largest developer of green energy projects in Romania, obtained the technical approval for connection to the grid for a solar park of 1,044 MWp, in Arad county.

This is 2.5 times larger than the 400 MWp park announced recently by Nofar Energy, a company listed on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, to be developed in Giurgiu county. Nofar's PV park (169 MWp currently) is designed to be expanded to 400 MWp, depending on the technical conditions of the national power grid.

The largest PV park currently in operation in Romania has a capacity of 60 MWp, while the largest wind farm (also the work of Muntmark) has a power of 260 MWp.

The estimated date for commissioning the 1,044MWp park is the end of 2024, and if the investment is completed, it could amount to EUR 600 mln, Ziarul Financiar reported.

At a capacity of 1,044 MWp, the solar park would require an area of ​​at least 2,400 hectares.

"Monsson aims to develop by 2030 green energy capacities in the total amount of over 3,500 MW that, besides other projects, will make Romania energy-independent as soon as possible," Monsson representatives stated.
