23 June 2023

Real estate company GTC Romania announced the signing of a long-term contract with the top cultural organization British Council for the opening of a new centre in northern Bucharest, in the City Gate South Tower. The location covers over 430 square meters and offers parking, modern spaces, proximity to residential areas, and other facilities.

Real estate consultancy CBRE brokered the transaction.

“At the British Council, we are committed to making it easier for our customers to benefit from our services. The City Gate South Tower’s infrastructure, amenities and strategic location, supported by excellent road and transport links, made it an ideal choice for us when considering where to expand our presence,” said Christopher Holmes, Director Teaching, British Council.

Located in Presei Libere Square in the north part of Bucharest, City Gate South Tower is a prime location with LEED GOLD Certification. It also has one of the largest car parks in the city, with over 1,000 parking spaces.

The City Gate Complex has a total leasable area of 47,700 square meters and consists of two tower buildings (ground floor + 18 stories). Last year, the complex underwent a thorough renovation following a EUR 3.5 million investment. The buildings benefited from enhancements both inside and out, such as upgrades to the lobby, the main reception areas, and various structures and amenities.

Promoting educational opportunities and intercultural understanding, with over 10,000 students in the last 2 years, British Council will continue to develop its current approach to engage more with its students of all ages. Also assisted by CBRE, British Council will open a second similar centre in District 6, in another location that is very well connected to the city’s infrastructure. The two new centres will open their gates in autumn 2023.

The British Council is the UK’s international organization for cultural relations and educational opportunities. It was founded in 1934 and incorporated by Royal Charter in 1940, and has been present in Romania since 1938.

The GTC Group is a leading real estate investor and developer focusing on Poland and capital cities in Central and Eastern Europe. During nearly 30 years of activity, GTC has developed 79 high-standard office and retail properties with a total area of 1.4 million sqm in the CEE.
