After Petrom fuel stations, Auchan attempts to open micro-stores in post offices

Auchan and the Romanian Post have entered into a partnership to sell food and non-food products at the country's post offices.

"After the innovative partnership we started with Petrom, we are happy to take on a new business challenge and to bring, for the first time, the products of a food specialist into the offices of the leader of the Romanian postal services, Poşta Română," Ionuţ Ardeleanu, general manager of Auchan Retail Romania, said, quoted by Economica.net.

Posta Romana already has the experience of various partnerships - more or less entrepreneurial initiatives of the local post office managers - of selling a broad and sometimes unexpected assortment of goods, so the formal partnership with Auchan can only be an improvement.

The project begins with a pilot stage in four post offices in Pitesti. The range selected and made available "by Auchan" consists of about 150 products and is displayed on a sales area of 10-12 sqm inside the post offices. Customers will be able to find groceries, sweets, drinks, snacks, as well as a selection of non-groceries.
