Second incident at the Bucharest subway this week

16 June 2016

A subway moving train caught fire near the Timpuri Noi station in Bucharest on Thursday morning, just two days after one of the busiest subway stations in Bucharest was evacuated due to smoke.

The incident occurred at around 6:45 in the morning, according to the local media. No casualties or delays were reported as the authorities responded quickly and managed to evacuate the passengers and control the situation.

The two incidents took place just two months after another one of Bucharest’s busiest metro stations was shut down and evacuated after a fire broke out at one of the electricity panels, filling the station with smoke.
