Bucharest metro operator Metrorex gets over EUR 308 mln from the state for investments

State-owned Metrorex, the company that manages the Bucharest subway transport, will receive EUR 308.5 million from the state budget to finance its investments this year.

The Metrorex budget for 2016 includes total revenues of RON 775 million (EUR 170.7 million), half of them representing subsidies.

The total expenditure amounts to the same level, namely EUR 170.7 million. The staff costs reach over EUR 76.6 million, according to the Metrorex budget proposal.

In addition to the current expenses, the company has planned to spend RON 315 million for investments, of which EUR 308.5 million come from the state budget.

One of its most important projects is the building of the subway line between the Drumul Taberei and Eroilor areas in Bucharest. The work for the Raul Doamnei-Eroilor section will be due at the end of the year, and the traffic will be opened in March next year.
