Sales of eMAG marketplace retailers choosing to expand in Bulgaria and Hungary rose by 40%

21 June 2023

The turnover of retailers active on the eMAG marketplace that opted to expand to Hungary and Bulgaria, based on the cross-border facility provided by the marketplace, increased by 40% compared to the sales generated by the local market, according to eMAG.

The Romanian online retailer will invest another EUR 5 million to develop the cross-border facility made available to its customers.

"The accelerated growth of the 5,000 Romanian entrepreneurs active on eMAG Marketplace shows that this is the easiest way to develop and an inspiration for any business, at any stage," commented Stejara Pircan, senior VP of eMAG, quoted by Economica.net.

Launched almost two years ago, the cross-border program, which facilitates sellers' access to neighbouring markets in Hungary and Bulgaria, has been constantly improved with new functionalities. Translation into two other languages for products to be sold on a market other than the originating market at no additional cost is one of them. In the last year, with the help of technology and artificial intelligence, 5 million products have benefited from faster translation through the regional cross-border program.

In addition to translation, the products listed by sellers also benefit from the automatic conversion of prices into local currencies, as well as options to synchronize stocks and prices between platforms.
