Over 20,000 people want to work for Bucharest City Hall’s holding

20 November 2017

Over 20,000 people in Bucharest submitted their resumes at a job fair organized by the municipality on Friday and Saturday.

The Bucharest City Hall is looking to fill about 2,000 jobs at the 22 public utility companies set up earlier this year.

The Sports for All Company (Compania Sport pentru Toti) received almost 1,500 resumes. Another popular company was the Public Lighting Company (Compania de Iluminat Public), which received over 1,400 CVs.

An unskilled worker could earn a monthly salary of up to RON 2,000 (EUR 431) within the municipality’s eco-sanitation company, Bucharest deputy mayor Aurelian Badulescu said on Friday.

Bucharest City Hall’s holding, which has been set up this year, will be one of the largest employers in Bucharest. The municipal holding is called “Bucharest-European capital”. It will have a total number of 8,437 employees, or 0.75% of Bucharest’s active population, according to the companies’ draft budgets. Its revenues will amount to over RON 1 billion (EUR 218 million) whereas the expenditure will reach RON 988 million (EUR 215 million). Its cumulated net profit will total RON 58 million (EUR 12.6 million).

About half of all employees will work in two of the 22 companies, namely the Municipal Security Company and the Trust of Metropolitan Buildings. The single shareholder of all these companies will be the Bucharest General Council.
