04 March 2019

The project of a large aqua park in Cluj-Napoca will be discussed at the March 5 meeting of the Cluj-Napoca City Council.

The aqua park is to be built in the neighborhood of Gheorgheni. It will have a covered surface of 20,900 sqm, while the outside part will encompass pools, green areas and pedestrian alleys spreading on over 100,000 sqm, according to a description of the project presented by Cluj mayor Emil Boc on Facebook.

The aqua park will have eight slides, able to accommodate almost 2,000 people per hour, relaxation pools, a pool bar, a playground and a pool for children, restaurants and terraces. The main attraction is set to be the 15.5 meters high King Cobra slide. It will also have a parking lot of over 1,200 places.

The total value of the investment is estimated at RON 198.2 million (EUR 41.7 million). The construction costs are estimated at RON 125.5 million (EUR 26.4 million), without VAT. The rest of the sum covers the other endowments of the park.

The aqua park is part of a larger project, Masterplan Zona Verde – Est, which entails the building of an urban nature park, of a recreation park and an area for sports activities.
