The Romanian border police caught a young Pakistani citizen who was trying to enter Romania illegally, hidden under a truck, on the spare wheel.

The incident occurred on Wednesday evening, at around 18:00. The vehicle was registered in Turkey and was driven by a Turkish citizen.

The young Pakistani had no identification documents, but he told the police his nationality and age. He was 23 years old and was trying to get to some friends in Italy, according to a statement from the border police.

Under the Romanian-Bulgarian protocol, the Pakistani man and the truck’s driver were handed over to the Bulgarian authorities, who will continue the investigation.

The incident took place just two days after five migrants from Egypt, who were asylum seekers in Romania, tried to cross the border illegally to Hungary by taxi.
