British citizen has driver license suspended for doing 203 km/h on Romanian highway

07 November 2016

A British citizen had his driver license suspended after he was caught doing 203 km per hour on Romania’s A1 highway.

The car’s speed was much higher than the maximum legal speed on the motorway in Romania, of 130 km per hour.

David Williams Howard, 59, was driving a BMW on the highway when the police radar caught his speed, reports local News.ro. The police fined him RON 2,500 (some EUR 550) and suspended his driver license for 90 days.

In late September this year, a young Romanian driver was caught doing 255 km per hour on the A3 highway. He also had his driver license suspended and received a fine of RON 1,125 (some EUR 253).
