Low cost airline Wizz Air has announced a new route from Bucharest to Tel Aviv, Israel. The flights will run three times a week to the bustling Israeli coastal city, which is the fifth most visited city in the the Middle East and Africa region, with more than 2.5 million visitors annually, according to Wizz Air.
The flights start from June 15 and will add to the 62 routes the airline currently operates via Bucharest.
Daniel de Carvalho, Corporate Communications Manager at Wizz Air said he was confident the new route would prove popular with tourists going in both directions and with the Romanian expat population in Tel Aviv. He also said the flight would help strengthen business ties between the two cities and countries.
Tickets are already on sale on the Wizz Air site with prices starting at RON 163 (just over EUR 37 at today’s (April 10) exchange rate).
Wizz Air is the largest low cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe and operates a fleet 40 Airbus A320 aircraft from 16 bases with 270 routes linking 93 destinations in 32 countries. Wizz Air has 1,500 employees and has had 13.5 million passengers in 2013.
