A manager and a real estate specialist within am OMV Petrom subsidiary were recently taken by prosecutors after allegedly taking a EUR 10,000 bribe from a businessman in Galati, in exchange for helping the businessman buy several buildings from Petrom below the market price.

Should the two employees have continued their scheme, Petrom would have lost several tens of millions of euros, according to Digi24. For example, the two intended to sell a building evaluated by the company at some EUR 50,000 for just EUR 20,000.

OMV Petrom is the largest oil and gas company in Romania, and the second largest in the country, turnover wise.
