Tourist accommodation capacity goes up 4.5% in Romania

Romania’s tourist accommodation capacity reached 343,700 places at the end of July 2017, up 4.5% compared to the same month of last year.

The number of hotels and guesthouses reached 7,905, up 13.8% over July 2016, according to Romania’s National Statistics Institute (INS).

Of the total number of facilities, 28.7% were in mountain resorts, 18.6% were in Bucharest and large cities and 9.8% in seaside resorts. Some 7.3% of the hotels and guesthouses were in spa reports and 1.6% were in the Danube Delta.

Most hotels and guesthouses were located in the Brasov county, namely 955 accommodation structures. Constanta ranked second, with 838 hotels and guesthouses, whereas Suceava had 441 such units.

Constanta ranked first for the number of existing accommodation places, with a share of 24.5%, followed by Brasov, with a share of 8.7%, and Bucharest, with a share of 6.1%.
