Toro Company builds 11,000 sqm micro irrigation products factory in Ploiesti West Park

10 February 2011

The Toro Company has purchased a plot of 3,5 hectares in Ploiesti West Park where it intends to build a manufacturing facility of 11,000 sqm that will employ approximately 100 people, once fully operational. Constructions will start in early 2011 and the facility will include production/assembly, warehouse and office space. Once complete, Toro’s new facility will manufacture micro irrigation products for growers of vegetables, field crops, orchards and vineyards in Eastern Europe, Russia and the Ukraine.

“We selected Ploiesti West Park in Romania due to its central position, good transportation infrastructure, and access to skilled manufacturing resources. It’s also in close proximity to Romania’s growing agricultural region” said Kirt Williams, General Manager Romania for Toro Company.

The Toro Company, listed on the New York Stock Exchange, produces turf and landscape maintenance equipments, as well as precision irrigation systems. With sales of nearly USD 1.7 billion in fiscal 2010, Toro’s global presence extends to more than 80 countries.

Ploiesti West Park, developed by Alinso group, has already delivered 30,000 sqm of class A logistics warehouse to Unilever in April, 2010, while constructions to Lufkin’s new manufacturing facility already started, following a 33- hectare transaction last year. Another 20,000 sqm logistics building was finalized last year with delivery to end-users scheduled for Q1 2011.
