The Romanian Police, with the help of an authorized operator, have destroyed more than 1,200 kg of high-risk drugs seized in over 500 criminal cases in recent years (video below).

One of the biggest drug busts took place in the summer of 2016, when the Police seized a record of more than 350 kg of khat leaves. They managed to catch a 51-year-old man, who was a member of a criminal network, with 22 packages containing a total of 351.7 kilograms of khat leaves. He was caught while trying to introduce the drugs into the country.

The drugs were supposed to reach the market in UK, having an estimated value of around EUR 0.7 million, according to the Police.
