The executive who led Societe Generale’s takeover of Romania’s second bank leaves BRD’s board

Jean-Louis Mattei resigned from his position as member of the board of directors of BRD Groupe Societe Generale, the second largest bank in Romania, BRD announced on Friday, December 5.

Mattei, 67, is the executive who orchestrated BRD’s takeover by French group Societe Generale in 1998. He has been serving as member of the BRD board since 1999.

Mattei retired from Societe Generale’s executive team in 2012, but continued as advisor for the group’s management until March 2013. He previously served as the Chief Executive Officer of International Retail Banking for Societe Generale.
