21 April 2017

Companies active in Romania’s telecom sector will invest more than EUR 0.5 billion in developing their networks this year, according to Catalin Marinescu, the president of local telecom regulator ANCOM.

“From the public information, telecom companies plan to invest over half a billion euro this year only in developing the fiber optics networks, if we talk about Telekom, in developing the 4G network, in the case of Vodafone and Orange, in developing their own networks, in case of UPC, while for RCS&RDS one of the priorities is expanding the 4G coverage,” Marinescu explained, reports local Agerpres.

Operators are willing to make these investments because they will lead to better returns on investments, according to the ANCOM president.

He also pointed out that there are some smaller cable TV operators interesting in offering mobile services.
