More than half of the Romanians who participated in an online survey carried out by local recruiting platform eJobs said they had a love affair with a coworker. Some 45% of the work flings turned into serious, long lasting relationships, the same survey shows.

Moreover, a quarter of those who had love affairs at work said that they even got married to one of their colleagues.

Based on age, 60% of those aged between 18 and 25 said that they didn’t had any romantic relationship at work. At the opposite end, over half of those aged 40-55 said that they’ve found love at work, or that they at least had a love affair.

Over 60% of those who had a love affair at work said that they weren’t involved in a serious relationship at that time. However, those in the 40-55 and over 55 age categories seem to be the ones who have cheated the most, the shares amounting to 43%, and 41% respectively.

Most respondents also said that the affair had no impact on their career, while 17% admitted that one of them had to resign. However, 7% said that the love affair helped them advance in their careers.

A total of 1,242 people took part in the survey conducted by eJobs Romania between February 1 and February 12. Most of them were women, and more than half of them were aged between 25 and 40.
