Strabag to build Transylvania highway segment
Austrian group Strabag has won the tender to build the Targu Mures-Ungheni segment of the Transylvania highway, according to Asociatia Pro Infrastructura (API) sources.
Romania’s National Company for Road Infrastructure (CNAIR) hasn’t announced the winner’s name, because the procedure hasn’t yet been completed, CNAIR representatives told Economica.net.
The segment is one of the most disputed road infrastructure projects. CNAIR has received 12 offers for this contract. This is estimated at RON 248.9 million (EUR 54 million), without VAT.
The A3 highway, which is called the Transylvania Highway on the Brasov-Bors segment, connects Bucharest with the exit to Hungary via Bors. It currently has only two operational segments, namely the Bucharest Ring Road-Ploiesti, and Campia Turzii – Gilau, around Cluj-Napoca.
