Several GMs removed amid organized crime investigation in Romania

Dragos Bilteanu (in picture), president and general director of Romanian investment company SIF Banat-Crisana (SIF1) was removed from office, and Najib El Lakis was removed from the administration board of SIF1, after the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) has withdrawn its approval, in the context of an investigation run by the Directorate for Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT), reports local Mediafax.

Andrei Hrebenciuc was also removed from his office as general director at SIF Moldova (SIF2), following the ASF decision.

The DIICOT prosecutors currently run an investigation on asset embezzlement at SIF Banat-Crisana and SIF Muntenia and on capital market manipulation. The prosecutors carried out 31 searches and heard 25 persons, 5 of which were detained.
