German audio company Sennheiser builds factory in Romania

19 March 2018

German audio company Sennheiser, one of the leading global producers of headphones, microphones and wireless transmission systems, announced its plans to build its fourth global factory in Brasov, central Romania.

The new factory will be built within the Industrial Park Brasov and will initially focus on the production of electronics for the general public. The construction is to be completed this year.

“Along with the existing factories in Germany, Ireland and the United States of America, the new production base will provide Sennheiser with more flexibility to meet market demand,” reads a press release from the company. With this investment, Sennheiser intends to strengthen its position on the European electronics market.

“One of the main reasons for choosing Brasov is the infrastructure, and then the very good connection with the European economic area," said Daniel Sennheiser, Co-CEO at Sennheiser.

Founded in 1945, Sennheiser is a family business that has grown up to be one of the leading global producers of headphones, microphones and wireless transmission systems. With more than 20 sales subsidiaries and distribution partners, the company is present in over 50 countries and currently has factories in Germany, Ireland and the United States of America. It has around 2,800 employees worldwide.

In 2016, the Sennheiser group has total sales of over EUR 658 million.
