Korean tech giant Samsung brings new CEO at the helm of its Romanian operations

South Korean tech group Samsung Electronics has appointed Hun Lee as president of its local subsidiary Samsung Electronic Romania. The 46-year old manager, who has served as president of Samsung Electronics Czech Republic since 2015, will coordinate the group’s activities in Romania and Bulgaria.

Meanwhile, the former Samsung Romania president Joseph Kim will take the helm of the group’s operations in Poland. Kim has been managing the business in Romania since January 2014.

Samsung Romania is the biggest consumer electronics company in Romania. It had a turnover of EUR 744 million and a net profit of EUR 13.5 million in 2015, according to data from the Finance Ministry. The company has over 120 employees.

Hun Lee joined Samsung Electronics in 2002 as marketing manager at the group’s headquarters in South Korea. After ten years, he became director of the Visual Display European division and then president of Samsung Electronics Czech Republic.

He studied politics and diplomacy at the Yonsei University and had an MBA in marketing and strategy from Duke University in the US. He is married and has two daughters. His favorite sports are golf, skiing, and tennis.
