Romania’s Tourism Ministry launches 'Explore RO' app in English

10 March 2017

The Tourism Ministry launched the app Explore RO at the International Tourism Fair in Berlin, on Wednesday, March 8. The app, which is in English, targets both Romanian and foreign tourists.

The app didn’t cost anything. It is the result of a partnership with Eventya, a private company that develops digital platforms for public or private tourism organizations, tourism minister Mircea Dobre said, according to Agerpres. The Tourism Ministry will sign a maintenance contract with Eventya.

The Explore RO app currently is currently an English language guide of the main tourist sites and destinations in Romania. However, the tourism minister hopes to have the app updated on a daily basis in the future and to add other information that tourists may find useful, such as accommodation units.

“We will reach the moment when accommodation units, even tourism agencies that are licensed by the Tourism Ministry, will be found in the app,” the minister said.

The app may also become available in other languages based on the tourist inflow from different countries.

The app can be found here.
