Romania’s OMV Petrom adds extra services to its gas stations under new business system

01 July 2014

Romanian oil and gas company OMV Petrom started to implement a new business system in its gas stations network, which includes opening restaurants, drugstores and car services.

“It is a first for Romania, but this system is validated internationally. We plan to open, within gas stations, restaurants, drugstores, car services or offices selling insurance policies. These will operate in spaces rented to OMV Petrom partners. We believe there is an increase in the share of auxiliary services in gas stations. It answers the need of the modern, very active customer, to have access to a wide range of products and services in one place,” said Adrian Nicolaescu, senior head of retail, OMV Petrom.

Subway recently opened its first drive-thru restaurant in Romania in the Petrom Vestem gas station in Sibiu.

OMV Petrom plans to extend the partnership with Subway and with other potential partners, where there is potential for such a business, as well as sign partnerships on other segments, such as pharma, auto and insurance.

OMV Petrom manages a network of 545 gas stations in Romania, out of which 392 are operated under the Petrom brand, and 153 under the OMV brand.
