Romanian song: Basul si cu toba mare – acoustic by Vita de Vie [bonus: acoustic album]

09 May 2014

Now and then we discover a Romanian song that ends up on heavy rotation across our newsroom for a few days, which hasn’t happened so often recently.

We’re always on the lookout for new songs, but this time we’re in awe over a song from the past – actually, a whole album from the past. There’s a catch however – old songs, but with a totally new sound.

Without further adieu – we picked Vita de Vie’s newest acoustic album, called Acustic, which gathers songs published by the Romanian band in the past, but which have been re-orchestrated. Some of them sound totally different than the originals, and are worth listening to one after the other.

Have a listen to Basul si cu toba mare – both in the new, smooth acoustic jazz version, and in its original version – the one that had rockers go crazy while listening to back in 1999.

This was just the starting point of the journey through this album – Varza feat. Alexandrina is also worth listening to, and so is Liber.

All songs have the new versions, and the original ones below. We leave it for you to discover more Vita de Vie songs on YouTube.  Enjoy!

Vita de Vie, founded in 1996, is made of lead singer Adrian Despot, and Sorin Pupe Tănase, Cezar Popescu and Adrian Ciuplea.
