Romanian retailer Profi wants to reach 500 stores by year-end
Local retailer Profi, owned by Polish investment fund Enterprise Investors, opened six stores last Thursday. It thus reached a network of 439 units at national level.
The company plans to have 500 stores in Romania by the end of the year. In August, Profi opened 15 new units.
The company is interested to develop in rural areas, said Daniel Cirstea, PROFI Rom Food general director. The retailer’s target is to open 100 new stores per year.
Profi currently has 10,000 employees. It is the retailer with the largest geographical coverage in Romania.
In 2015, the company posted a net profit of EUR 11.6 million, almost double compared to 2014. The turnover reached EUR 565 million, up 40% year-on-year.
