Romanian boxer Razvan Cojanu was given the chance to fight current titleholder Joseph Parker for the WBO heavyweight title, after British Hughie Fury pulled out after an injury.

The match will take place on May 6 in Auckland, New Zealand, on Parker's home turf.

Cojanu, 30, has 16 victories (12 KO) and two defeats (one KO) in the pro category, reports local Agerpres. In December, he won the WBO China Zone title after a quick KO (second half) against Zhi Yu Wu.

Razvan Cojanu is at number 14 in the WBO heavyweight ranking, but has a good reason to be confident as he spent a lot of time as a sparring partner for Parker during training.

"I'd like to thank Hughie Fury for pulling out," Cojanu said, reports Nzherald.co.nz. "I'm not taking the fight for the money. I always said if I got a title shot [anywhere] I'd say 'yes'.

Joseph Parker, 25, has won 22 matches in the pros category (all the matches he played), 18 of them through KO.
