The Romanian Police and prosecutors from Mures county have started an investigation in a case in which Cristian Pomohaci, a famous local priest and folk singer, is accused of recruiting minors for sexual purposes.

Cristian Pomohaci is a parish priest in the village of Mosuni, in Mures County. He is also known as a singer of Romanian folk music.

The scandal started after the local media presented a 22-minute audio recording of an alleged discussion between Pomohaci and a 17-year-old teenager. In this recording, the man who is believed to be the priest is making sexual advances to the boy, and asks him to have sexual intercourse in exchange for money.

The recording appeared in the local media, as well as on social media networks. Following this, the Orthodox Archdiocese of Alba Iulia decided to open an internal investigation to see if the accusations against the priest Cristian Pomohaci are real. Moreover, the Archdiocese decided that the priest is no longer allowed to practice any kind of religious service for 30 days, and that he would have to bring evidence against the charges against him, reports local News.ro.

Cristian Pomohaci has previously been accused of practices not accepted by the Orthodox Church, such as exorcism.
