Romanian minister: Offshore platforms, exempt from tax on special constructions

30 September 2014

Constructions located on the offshore platforms operating in the Black Sea will be exempt from paying the tax on special constructions, also known as ‘the pole tax’, according to the Romanian Minister of Finance Ioana Petrescu, cited by local Capital.

The companies that operate platforms in the Black Sea are OMV Petrom, ExxonMobil together with OMV Petrom, Lukoil and Romgaz, Midia Resources and Petro Ventures, as well as Sterling Resources.

The tax on special constructions will go down from the current 1.5% to 1% from 2015, the minister announced earlier this month.
