Romanian industry accelerates in April
The local industry, which generates almost a quarter of Romania’s gross domestic product (GDP), recorded a 3.6% year-on-year gross increase in production in April, higher than in March when the growth was only 1.2%.
The manufacturing industry increased by 5.5% compared to April 2017, according to data from the National Statistics Institute (INS).
In the first four months of this year, the industrial production went up by 4.6% compared to the same period of last year, due to a 5.8% increase in the manufacturing industry. However, the growth rate was lower than last year, when the industrial production increased by 8.2% compared to 2016.
Perspectives remain good for the sector, as the manufacturing industry recorded a 27.1% increase in new orders in April versus April 2017.
