Romanian employers most optimistic about employment in nine years

Romanian employers are the most optimistic in the Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region about employment opportunities between January and March next year, on par with Slovenian employers, according to a survey by ManpowerGroup.

Romania’s +17% seasonally adjusted Net Employment Outlook indicator for the first quarter of 2018 is the strongest since the beginning of 2009. Some 22% of the local employers expect to increase the number of employees in the first quarter of 2018 and only 12% expect staff decrease whereas 64% don’t expect any change.

The employment opportunities for the beginning of next year are positive across all sectors, except for micro-organizations. Large companies, with over 250 companies, are the most optimistic. They report a +30% seasonally adjusted Net Employment Outlook, the strongest for this segment in the history of the survey in Romania.

Employers in Manufacturing are at their most optimistic in the almost 10 years, with a +39% Net Employment Outlook for the first quarter of 2018. Companies in the North-Western part of Romania are the most optimistic, with one in three planning to employ people.
